Roman 2nd Century Bronze Fish Brooch with Enamelling and Intact Pin
This Roman 2nd century bronze fish brooch contains 12 circular cells, 11 of which still fully retain their coloured enamelling. Four of the cells contain red enamel, four contain blue enamel and the remaining four white, though one of these cells has lost most of its colouration. The brooch is also complete with its full catch-plate and fastening pin.
This substantial sized brooch measures 4.5 cm in length and 2 cm at its widest point.
The fish brooch is in particularly good condition; the cell colours are still vibrant and the overall patina is dark and smooth.
