4th Century Redware Roman Oil Lamp Depicting Galloping Pony
This very good quality 4th-century terracotta coloured Roman oil lamp depicts a galloping pony on its discus. On either side of the pony there are two oil pouring holes within the bowl of the lamp. The shoulders of the lamp are decorated with stylised palm fronds.
The lamp has a solid lug handle and a protruding spout and it measures 120mm in length, 73mm in width and 40mm in height (from the tip of the handle to the base).
The lamp is in overall very fine, complete condition with no damage.
