Ambrotype Portraying a Trio of Uniformed Federal Soldiers

This trio of federal soldiers wear the four buttoned sack coat with the regulation trousers and forage cap. The two seated soldiers are clean shaven, whilst the third sports a moustache and bushy beard and he is standing between his compatriots with a hand on each of their shoulders.

The ambrotype is contained in a brown embossed case, which is now in two parts. The case is complete with a rectangular thin brass mat, brass preserver and protective glass. The overall quality of the image is very good. There is a little emulsion loss, but this does not detract from the general high standard of the image. Group images are also rarer than single images.
